Find The Specific Info You’ve Searched For On A Website

We’ve all done it.... searched for a specific word or phrase, and when we go to the link our favorite search engine recommended, we can’t find the exact words or phrase that was in our search… but yet they showed up in the search engine list… where are they??

It’s easy to find them – just use your keyboard shortcuts…

When you are on the webpage, Hold down your CTRL KEY and the "F" KEY

  • Remember the F key, in conjunction with the CTRL key = find
So once you do this, you will see a search box appear on your monitor screen (almost always it appears at the bottom of your open window)

Now you can type in the same word or phrase into that search box and your internet browser with find and highlight each instance of that word as it appears on the page.

Then click the "next" button to allow the page to auto-scroll to the next instance of the word.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

On behalf of all of us at Mohave Community College and myself – we want to wish all of our dads, granddads, great=granddads, great-great granddads and everyone who has supported anyone in the role of a dad – a wonderful Father’s Day Holiday – we hope you realize how important you are in so many lives – so thank you and have a wonderful day…Cherie Houston

A little trivia about Fathers Day – did you know:

·         Father’s Day was introduced by Sonora Dodd in Spokane, Washington. She wanted to honor her widowed father William Smart who took care of his six children during the Civil War. Since Sonora Dodd was the girl who first started the tradition of Father’s Day in this country, she had campaigned for her Father’s birthday -- June 19 --  to be declared Father’s Day.
·         The first Father’s Day was announced and celebrated in 1910.
·         Father’s Day was first supported by President Calvin Coolidge in 1924. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson declared the third Sunday of June as the official holiday. It was President Woodrow Wilson who first said, however, in 1916 that Father’s Day should be given the status of a national holiday.
·         Father's Day in America has been officially celebrated annually since 1972 when President Richard Nixon signed the public law that made it permanent
·         Greeting cards are the No. 1 purchase on Father’s Day, and almost 92 percent of the cards are sold to women. Most of the greeting cards purchased are humorous.
·         More than 110 million greeting cards are sent throughout the world for Father's Day and according to Hallmark, Father’s Day is the 5th largest card-selling occasion in America.
·         Father’s Day is the fourth most popular card-sending holiday in the world after Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
·         The tie is the most traditional and famous Father’s Day gift throughout the world. (I remember buying my dad a Chicago Cubs tie, but he never wore it. He was more of a Black Jack/Vegas guy!)
·         Almost half as much is spent on Father’s Day gifts as on Mother’s Day. Does this mean that we moms are more expensive? Or is it because the most popular Father’s Day gift is a simple necktie?
·         Today, some of the most popular Internet searches connected to the day include "fathers day recipes", "fathers day poem" and "fathers day crafts"
·         Father’s Day is celebrated at different times around the world. In Thailand it falls on Dec. 5; in Australia it’s observed on the first Sunday of September.
·         Father's Day is celebrated most places on the third Sunday in June, but not everywhere. In Spain and Portugal, for instance, fathers are honored on St. Joseph's Day, March 19th,in Australia, it's the first Sunday in September....

And check out this website for many of “dads” favorite sayings – it’s surprising how many you might recognize (or have even said yourself)

Have a wonderful day…

Memorial Day Poem

On behalf of myself and all of our staff at Mohave Community College, we want to wish you and yours a safe & enjoyable Memorial Day Holiday - so enjoy the wonderful weather...Cherie Houston

Memorial Day

~ by Michelle Keim, PA (1999)

As we stand here looking, at the flags upon these graves
Know these flags represent, a few of the true American brave
They fought for their Country, as man has, through all of time
Except that these soldiers lying here, fought for your country and mine

As we all are gathered here, to pay them our respect
Let's pass this word to others, it's what they would expect
I'm sure that they would do it, if it were me or you
To show we did not die in vein, but for the red, white and blue.

Let's pass on to our children, and to those who never knew
What these soldiers died for, it's the least that we can do
Let's not forget their families, great pain they had to bear
Losing a son, father or husband ~ they need to know we still care

No matter which war was fought, on the day that they died
I stand here looking at these flags, filled with American pride.
So as the bugler plays out Taps, with its sweet and eerie sound
Pray for these soldiers lying here, in this sacred, hallowed ground.

Take home with you a sense of pride
You were here Memorial Day.
Celebrating the way Americans should
On this solemnest of days.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend

On this Memorial Day Weekend, we hope you will take a moment to visit this inspirational website that pays tribute to all of who have served in our military…  The following is an excerpt from the “Reflection Page” on this website…

On behalf of all of us at Mohave Community College, we wish you and your families a safe & enjoyable Memorial Day Holiday and we want to thank all of you who have served, or who have family who have served,  in our armed forces..

Memorial Day is a good time to reflect on the sacrifices and services of the American soldiers and veterans and the U.S. military men and women. The American military is, has always been and will always recruit the best and finest of the crop of young men and women of the country and we will continue to shower them with appreciation, support and prayers, as we have always done. Memorial Day is just an opportunity for us to express the special places they have in the hearts of American citizens and more by honoring the people who work in the various branches of the military.

The horrific tragedy of September 11, 2001, has stirred all and reawakened the spirit of patriotism in all hearts and unity and oneness binds all Americans in a special bond. The words 'United We Stand' and 'God Bless America' still hold the power to stir out hearts on this very special day.

Let the feelings of true patriotism and love for all those who have risked their lives for the sake of America show by putting up American flags in front of your houses, have parties with patriotic themes to honor military and ex-military men and women in your neighborhood and community. It is a good idea to coax them into telling more about their experiences with the military and on the warfront and you may get an opportunity to hear some exceptional real tales that you may have not even imagined about.

Error Message: Windows-No Disk

Question: I am getting a error message a lot lately: “WINDOWS-NO DISK” pops up on the monitor and it makes no difference what I’m working on or have open and it happens several times a day…

Answer: Tech support forums and sites (including Microsoft) indicate that this is common (more so with Windows XP & Vista) than Windows 7. THe following is the solution, copied directly from Microsoft’s website at the following link:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-system/windows-no-disk-exception-processing-message/b1a67525-d5e8-46ae-9801-6b169547e656

"The answer lies in the words "Windows: No Disk", your PC is looking for a USB device - e.g. a USB stick or a cell phone - that you've recently plugged in and have removed without using the "remove hardware safely" option in the right hand bottom corner of your screen. Put the last USB device you used back into the USB port and then use the "remove software safely" option.

The pop up message will disappear."

In my case, I didn't have to plug the USB device in, I just needed to click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray, and tell it to remove the device that is no longer plugged in.

Tribute to the victims and families of 9/11

I want to thank Paula Abrahms from Schnectedy, NY for sending this to me and I hope you will join us today as we all remember all the families who lost children, parents, husbands, wives, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, associates, friends and personal heroes on that dreadful morning that we now refer to as 9/11. Cherie Houston

No doubt most of us remember that beautiful Tuesday morning, ten years ago today “September 11th, 2001” when in just moments, 2,996 people lost their lives that morning - 2,977 innocent victims and the 19 highjackers.

Yes 246 innocent victims were on the four planes, the two that struck the towers in New York, the one that struck the Pentagon and the 4th that went down in a field in Shanksville, PA; another 2,606 innocent victims in New York City who were in the towers or on the ground, and the 125 innocent victims at the Pentagon in Washington. Yes all the deaths that morning were innocent civilians except for 55 innocent military personnel who were killed in the attack on the Pentagon…

This morning please take a moment to remember these families who continue to live with the impact of that dreadful morning, so that they will continue to find the strength needed to continue moving forward on their life journey..

This day is remembered and quietly kept
I pray to God that we never forget,
Yes the blow was hard, the shock severe,
So many lost, so much fear amidst the tears

I pray its true they still live on in the hearts and minds,
Of the loving families, that they left behind
No longer here in our life to share,
But in our hearts – they are always there

Our love for them and theirs for us, can never go away,
I think they are with us every day
Unseen and unheard, but always near,
So loved, so missed, and so very dear.

Yes its hard for sure when we’re left behind
Trying to move forward, praying for some peace of mind
Time and faith and kinds words when spoken
Will help heal our hearts that were so badly broken

Good Lord Above
Please grant strength and peace
to all 9/11 moms and families

And take a moment to visit the website dedicated to the 911 Memorial being dedicated today in New York City, NY in memory of all who lost their lives...
